Our Story
Welcome to the tale of Claire and Dylan - a story filled with friendship, adventure, and a sprinkle of chaos that brought us together in the most unexpected ways.
The Beginning
Our story starts back in 2011, at the Delta Gamma sorority house at Long Beach State when Claire was a freshman and Dylan was a junior. Claire and Dylan were introduced because of their shared roots in Dana Point. They became fast friends and Dylan even attended Claire’s 19th and 20th birthday parties.
Years of Friendship
Claire and Dylan stayed close in those early years, and they bonded over Dana Point, wine, and professional ambition. Dylan helped Claire begin her professional career, which landed her an internship at Union Bank where they both worked in the summer of 2014. Dylan even attended Claire’s college graduation in 2015!
A Separate Journey
After Claire’s graduation from UCSB, life pulled them in different directions - Dylan to San Francisco and Claire to LA (then switching places a couple years later.) Dylan established a career in banking and attended business school at UCLA, while Claire delved into the corporate retail industry and built a new community in San Francisco.
Reconnecting
After not talking for a couple years, Claire reached out to Dylan on Thanksgiving 2022 with a snarky comment about stretching for the Dana Point Turkey Trot. They decided to get together for coffee and a walk that Friday when they spent hours walking around the Dana Point harbor catching up. A few weeks later, Dylan came home from a ski trip in Europe to see a huge snow forecast for Mammoth that weekend. None of his friends were available but he thought Claire & her family might just be up there that weekend, so he reached out. Claire’s family was planning to go, but Claire’s dad Neal was sick, so they canceled their trip. Claire & Dylan got on the phone that night and planned their first trip to Mammoth together, which was filled with long conversations and epic skiing. They went on their first formal date later that week.
Growing Closer
Claire and Dylan grew closer the rest of the year skiing on the weekends and going on long walks on the Strand in Manhattan Beach. They took up new activities together, including tennis and roller blading and enjoyed countless new restaurants in Los Angeles. They moved into a beautiful apartment together and went on a Sicilian vacation in September.
The Proposal
In December 2023, during a ski trip to Jackson Hole, Dylan decided it was the perfect moment to pop the question. With the majestic mountains as their backdrop and a warm hot toddy in hand, Dylan suggested they enjoy the views from the hotel's rooftop. As they took in the beauty of the landscape, Dylan expressed his love for Claire in a few nonsensical sentences before dropping to one knee and asking her to marry him.
